“I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.”

I’m In A Hurry (And Don’t Know Why) ~~Roger Murrah and Randy VanWarmer

I have no information on this art installation in downtown Las Vegas, except that it is supposedly open to the public once a year. This night it was blocked off and I had to shoot over a chain link fence.

What do you value most in a friendship? A woman. Now, I don’t mean anything sexist by that. But I am sexist. Against men. I have never had a really close friendship with a guy when growing up. All my closest friends were girls. They were just easier to talk to about sensitive things like feelings. I think that’s why most people thought I was gay when I was in high school. Well that and being in the drama club.

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?  Do you prefer a specific flavor? When I ate cake, I would usually eat the cake and the frosting at the same time. And chocolate is (was) my flavor. Since cutting out as much sugar as possible in my diet, the only chocolate I get is if I order a mixed drink with creme de cacao.

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to? I do remember being in a submarine in Disneyworld once. Does that count?

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours? I don’t think I could find anyone leading a more satisfying life than mine right now. No one’s life is perfect, but mine is definitely satisfying. Well, except for having to put up with that damn dog!

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? This past weekend, my wife went away for the day. Now, that in itself is not why I am grateful. But, because I woke up at 5 on Saturday morning, alone, I got out of bed, showered, dressed, and got out of the house by 5:19 am. With my camera. It was still dark out but, by the time I decided where I was going, the sun was already starting to turn the black sky to blue. And it was freezing out. And yet I felt so alive. The photo above is one I took of the Lou Ruvo Center For Brain Health in downtown Las Vegas. The colors have not been manipulated in any way. The structure is all silver, lit only by the existing streetlights. The interior lights are all purple. What a sight! Just beautiful.

Now please go visit Cee’s Share Your World post to read what others find satisfying.

OK, another image of my dad’s. I just went through what I have on my laptop and it looks like he was really busy when he was in New York last December. And I’m sort of jealous. He’s got some good stuff here. I think it’s the camera. I mean, the guy hasn’t done any serious photography since I was an idea! And the story I get is that I wasn’t even his idea but my mom’s.

Lucky for me she used to be able to get him to do whatever she wanted! That’s all I’m saying.

(This post is for steveo who wanted to see more of my father’s images.)

One Word Photo Challenge: Eigengrau

Prompts and Challenges

Lake Las VegasEigengrau is an intrinsic gray, the color seen by the eye in perfect darkness. The problem with this definition is that, if the darkness is perfect, there is no light. And all you would see is an intrinsic black. But what a boring photo that would be.

This is a weekly challenge which begins anew every Tuesday, hosted by Jennifer Nichole Wells at OWPC!

All I can say is there’s a lot of noise when you shoot at ISO 6400 with a Canon T2i. This is  Caesar’s Place Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas NV shot from the parking garage.
