In Retrospect: Sloan NV

Gallery

Let me just say right now, these photos were not taken in Sloan NV. The factory was nestled into the foothills somewhat southeast of the town of Sloan. There is no town or city nearby. We went off road in our (now quite dead) 2006 Hyundai Sonata and saw metal shining up in the hills so went to discover the remains of a blacktopped road washed out in spots, and a metal gate preventing us from driving any further. If you know my wife at all by now, that inconsequential gate did little to deter her. She climbed over it and I followed behind, a lamb to the slaughter. See, I always imagine that a gate means “do not enter” or “go no further” and that 300 pound rednecks with guns- gender is as inconsequential as the gate- with rifles will instantly appear. They did not. The place was deserted.

So I am enjoying rediscovering older photos of mine and reprocessing them “in retrospect”. Hope you are, too.

In Retrospect:

OK, just because I live in a desert, don’t think I don’t know cold. This shot was taken in Utah in 2013 on a cold January morning when the outside temperature was only 7 degrees. I was wearing a tee shirt. And a flannel shirt. Maybe I had on a sweater, too, I’m not sure. Oh, and a down jacket. A wool knit cap. And probably gloves.

Man, it was cold!

So, to all those 5 people who are following this blog, I must admit that it was ill advised. Not that anybody actually advised me or that I would have listened if they did. But there was no real reason to start a second blog except for maybe ego or something. I do want to continue posting older photos from my archives, but I have decided to do so every Saturday on my original blog, Photos By Emilio. This will be the last and final post on this site. No tears, no recriminations.

It wasn’t you, it was me.
