Prompts and Challenges

Have you ever participated in a distance walking, swimming, running, or biking event? Tell your story. See the photo above? I can go the distance on sleeping. Eight hours is easy for me. Ten? No problem.

Name one thing not many people know about you. I would venture to say that many people have forgotten, or never did read, that I am considerably older than Emilio Pasquale. “Luke, I am your father!” Yes, Emilio is fashioned after my son. He will be 34 this year. This is the second marriage for both Lynn and myself. Lynn’s first husband died of cancer, my first wife is still very much alive. But between Lynn and myself, we have ten kids.

What is your favorite flower? I don’t really have a favorite flower. In fact, I’ve gone on record as stating I do not like flowers. At least in captivity. Lynn has forbidden me to purchase flowers on her birthday or anniversary or in apology for the countless times I have been at fault! But I have also been known to travel far and wide when the desert wildflowers are in bloom. And watching the hummingbirds levitate over a flowering plant is truly a sight to behold.

Things I want to have in my home (paintings, hot tubs, book cases, big screen tv etc) We are at that time in our lives when we want to scale down and rid ourselves of some of the clutter we’ve accumulated over the years. So, I think all we really want, or need, is a roof and a bed. And books, music, probably classic movies on dvd (and a way to view them), coffee, wine, pizza at least once a week. Friends, and family! Oh, and that hot tub? Just make it a shower. For two. 🙂

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? Last week? Grateful? I guess I am grateful that my 2006 Nissan Altima has just passed 204,000 miles and did not “crap out” on us in Death Valley yesterday. As for the following week? A movie or two, hopefully getting the book I am working on into it’s first edit, and a trip on the weekend to a section of Route 66 between Barstow and Needles.

I’m happy to hear that Cee and Chris are better this week and that Cee was able to come up with these questions. It’s always fun! Join in sometime! Check out Cee’s Share Your World every Monday.

  1. Love that sign, Emilio! My husband is, like you, a champion sleeper, but hey, everyone is great at something. Ten children??? No, I certainly didn’t know that.

I’ll be participating this week, but not until Friday. That’s why it’s Good Friday. 🙂

  2. You were correct when you stated on my blog that we must have been separated at birth Emilio because eight to ten ours sleep is no problem for me either. Terry and I are at the point in our lives where we would like to declutter also. We were even thinking about purchasing a tiny house but as far as I know they are illegal in New York. Imagine that even if you own the property you can’t put the tiny house on it. You can’t even build a small house on a foundation less than 800 square feet on Long Island. I guess that’s so they could charge you astronomical numbers for taxes (they would feel guilty charging you $10,000 a year taxes if you lived in a 500 sq. foot home). I’m with you brother all I need is a bed, a sofa (in my case beer) music and warm weather (or like Steve Martin said in The Jerk “all I need is this chair” 😀

    1. I think on all “stupid” laws you have to follow the money. Who would lose out if you purchased a tiny house? Builders! And, yes, the tax base would suffer. We do own property in Monticello Utah. OK, strictly speaking, Lynn owns it. And we were thinking of putting one there. But while we can, we want to travel when I retire- which will be at the end of this year if not sooner. So we can rent you the land cheap and you can use it for the winter months to escape winter in New York! 😀
