Well, the directions for the Daily Prompt are to “Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.” But I was never one to follow directions. So, instead of writing, I present to you this photo of artwork which definitely represents the protest that is currently in progress at Standing Rock.

“In honor of our future generations, we fight this pipeline to protect our water, our sacred places, and all living beings.”

  1. It’s beautiful. I know that they have gotten a reprieve at Standing Rock. I just wonder how long before it comes around again. There’s an awful lot of money and power behind that pipeline. Too much.

  2. Nice take on the prompt – and I follow some writers who “only” write for the photo prompts – and I think whatever gets the creative juices flowing is what is key. Which is why you noted what you noted and posted what you posted!
Colorful art with such a statement

    1. I had to do some research and here’s what I came up with: “Speaking of murals, drive west on Charleston past Artifice and you can’t miss Gear Duran’s glowing cobalt image on the south-facing side of the former Mission Linen Warehouse. The Las Vegas-based artist and former Skin Wars contestant started the piece as a show of support for Native Americans protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, which, if built, will run through sacred burial grounds and threaten the Standing Rock Sioux’s water supply. “I wanted to do something that’s just very raw and very symbolic,” Duran says. “It’s not just their water; it’s the planet’s water.” While the Army Corps of Engineers has halted the pipeline for now, the mural serves as a necessary reminder of what’s at stake for all Americans—Las Vegans included.” –https://lasvegasweekly.com/ae/fine-art/2016/dec/14/arts-notes-misko-gear-duran-dream-machine/#/0
