Yes, we live in a desert. But Lake Mead- formed by the Hoover Dam- is the largest reservoir in the United States. It is on the Colorado River about 24 mi (39 km) from the Las Vegas Strip, southeast of the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.

      1. No, haven’t been to the dam since late last year actually but I can’t see how the water level couldn’t have gone down more by now. It’s around 80 foot below where it should be if I recall correctly. What ever it is, it’s sad to see it so low. How long until we go on rations or worse…

  1. I have very mixed feelings about Lake Mead and the dam, although I did enjoy a week on a houseboat there with my family and some friends many, many years ago. But I have no mixed feelings about your shot: I like it a lot.

        1. But that’s our history in this land. We destroy. I wrote about this last month but there is a town called St. Thomas which was flooded when Lake Mead was first created by the dam. Now that we are in the middle of a drought, you can see the remains. I hiked down there about 2 or 3 weeks ago and there were a few brick walls here and there but nothing much left after almost 80 years under water.

  2. Love this image Emilio. We were at Lake Mead a couple of years ago and I couldn’t believe how the water level had dropped. By your reply to John it sounds like things are only getting worse.
