June One Photo Focus

Prompts and Challenges

Image by David Croker Processing by Emilio Pasquale

The image above was submitted by David Croker of CADEPhotographic.

David says: The image was taken at Broxborne in Hertfordshire, UK on a lovely sunny day a few months back, and while I like the image, I have always struggled a bit with how to edit it. Looking forward to seeing all your wonderful ideas. 😃

Well, my wonderful idea was to stay as close to natural as possible. That is mainly because I still have not delved into Photoshop. But what I wanted to convey through my processing was a feeling of tranquility and timelessness. A photo that could have been taken today, or 50 years ago. I hope I’ve succeeded and that David likes  it.

            1. Yeah, I keep saying I’m going to stop, then I see another one. I don’t spend much time on any of the challenges and I don’t think that’s fair. I usually just grab something from my archives that fills the prompt.

  1. I really like the look you have to this picture, lovely subtle tones give it that kind of “vintage” look.
If you still have not had the inclination/courage (you choose!) to delve into Photoshop, then I saw that Creative Live have a free (woo!) month long course (starting today) all about Ps, starting from the basics, I saw it and wondered if it might have been of any interest to you. OK, so I’ll stop interfering now and wish you a good week! 🙂

    1. I actually bought a course but looked at only the first 30 minutes. I suppose I should look again. I did take a look at Creative Live, but their sessions are live, or so they say, and I came in on the middle of something that was not helpful at all. But thanks for the suggestion. 🙂

    1. Thanks for thinking of me, Katie. I took a look at Creative Live but came in on the middle of it and had no idea what they were talking about. To get it on demand you have to pay. But I already purchased a tutorial. Just never quite got around to sit and watch more than about a half hour. One day!
