Thursday’s Special: Urban Art

Captain Fantastic

Just visited Lisa at Daily Musings and loved her post about urban art. Check it out!

“I love urban art. For some reason, every time I see any I have to stop and take a photo. I think these people are true artists and wish they’d be recognized as such, but I imagine there is a stigma against anyone who defaces a public structure even if they make it more beautiful or interesting.”

    1. I agree with you. I’m talking about abandoned buildings, mainly. Graffiti in a natural environment is pure vandalism. Maybe what I’m talking about can not be called graffiti! Graffiti calls to mind tagging and gang activity.

      1. I think we’re in agreement here. It really is very artful in the right places. There’s a street in SF dedicated to graffiti and the art there is incredible! I’m also wondering if there is a different term for the vandalism/gang stuff vs. the artful kind.
