Of Cabbages and Kings Re-post

Prompts and Challenges

“The time has come,’ the walrus said, ‘to talk of many things: of shoes and ships – and sealing wax – of cabbages and kings’.” ~~ Lewis Carroll

Cabbages-2The head of a walrus over a fireplace is so strange and out of place that it makes me smile. I hate to admit I am a vegetarian, so I can only hope it was never a real walrus! I’m not even sure it is a real fireplace!

  1. It looks like an odd room … and I just don’t understand the attraction to mounting animal heads on the wall. I hope I don’t suddenly develop a compelling need to do that 😉

Emilio, I have to tell you that over the holidays son#2 was showing me how to create folders and filters in my gmail account where all my blog activity goes. One of your blog posts happened to be sitting there and was used in our experimentation.
Now you have the unique distinction of having each of your posts hit my mailbox with a tag “Favourite Blogger”. It makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.
Unfortunately we were imbibing Christmas Cheer at the time of our experimentation and now I don’t remember how to recreate it or undo it. It seems you’re stuck with the label for a while 😉

    1. I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it’s such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.

OK, that is actually a quote from Ellen DeGeneres. Wish I had said it! So, I’m your favorite blogger? And that makes you laugh out loud? I think I’m offended, I’m not sure. But if you were drinking- excuse me, “imbibing”- then that probably explains it. You are my favorite After-Before Friday hostess. And I’ve only had coffee this morning! 😉

  2. I too hope the walrus wasn’t alive at any time but it is certainly a very fun fireplace. It does make me think of the Walrus and the Carpenter, especially with that top hat. Wishing you a wonderful new year!

  3. Where on earth did you take this?
There’s so much to look at in this that, after the Walrus, I didn’t know where to start.
Is that a door with stained glass, right by the fireplace?

(I know, I know … I’m supposed to just enjoy the photo but I always want details … one of my more annoying traits)
