Sunday Stills: Yellow

Prompts and Challenges

Yellow bus

Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Yellow | Sunday Stills.

“Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Come and took away my old man
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot”

  1. Ah … it’s all grist to the mill of the solitary man, this kind of image. And beautiful it is, too ! But I dunno about the Big Yellow Taxi … “How lonely it is going to be now on the Yellow Brick Road” was said by the famous Ray Bolger, once (he played Scarecrow); you could’ve tried that …? Sorry, Emilio: I’m being needlessly picky; but it’s only because I think it’s a great image, those rusting estate cars around that sad building …

    1. I never even thought of Ray Bolger. He said that upon the death of Judy Garland, right? And I was stretching for a quote as it is because I think that’s actually a bus! But at least it’s yellow! (Oh, and you’re allowed to be as picky as you want! Thanks.)

    1. I don’t have a license! I’ll admit to some adjusting of contrast and sharpness and even maybe a bit of color overall. But I will NOT admit to adding a matching streak of yellow. If you are a religious person, then God did that. If you are not, then it was Mother. Mother Nature. 🙂

      1. I was hoping it was that. Quite extraordinary. Nature (I’m not sure if God has a sense of humour) looked at the vehicle, and said, ‘Oh, I can do that easily. See? How’s that for a match?’

  2. I like this very much. What amazes me is how many of these photogenic locations you find. None of them look like they are on the next street but one, so must take a lot of time to locate and get to. If it’s not a trade secret, how do you do it?

    1. It’s a trade secret! No, we used to just drive around almost every weekend and would come across these places. We would drive 50 miles on the freeway in any direction and take the first exit. Then we started looking for places whenever we traveled- Utah, Wyoming, California, Arizona. We’ve run out of new places though so have to widen our travels. Sometimes we even re-visit old places. Thanks for asking. No matter how far we roam, it seems to me all my photos resemble each other… old, weather beaten wood shacks and rusted cars and trucks.
